[livejournal.com profile] maerhys is relatively new to the Numb3rs fandom (she’s been here for about 6 months now), and she writes utterly fabulous and painfully beautiful Don/Charlie fic. If you’ve read even one of her lovely fic, you know what I mean. And if you haven’t, then you don’t know what you’re missing!

[livejournal.com profile] irena_adler and her Watson 'verse will always be the first thing I rec. It was the first thing I read in the Numb3rs fandom when I was searching for fic and remains one of my favorites. The 'verse has a little something for everyone from kid!fic to the kinkiest porn imaginable and is a must read.

~~~
[livejournal.com profile] sororcula continues to astound me with her writing talent. Her porn is hot, her schmoop is sweet, and she writes in all genres from gen to slash. If you like OFC's and Colby/OFC, take a gander at her OFC series You've Got What Gets Me, (Every Time), and Simply a Wow.
~~~

[livejournal.com profile] spikedluv's fics never fail to give me a thrill when I read them. She's written a little something in every genre, from schmoop to angst to crossover to the pure crack-tastic and I love her writing style. Go and read!!

That’s it for the AUSA theme.

It’s been a while since we’ve done an Intro to Numb3rs theme, so this week’s theme is: Introduction to Numb3rs: Authors

Who are the three authors you’d choose to show to someone new to Numb3rs, and why? Don’t worry if other folk have chosen some or all of the same authors, because we will probably all have our own reasons for including them, and your reason might be the one that tips the scale for someone! *g*

You have until midnight (wherever you are *g*) Sunday, February 21 to post your recs here!

Remember that all types of recs are welcome here, whether gen, het or slash, [as are all genres, from angst to romance to case-related]. If you're unsure how to structure your recs, please check out the rules on the community profile.

Please comment to this post with any ideas you have for future themes or if you’d like to sign up for a week of your very own. All of the past themes can be found listed alphabetically near the top of the tags page under “!theme: ”.

Title:Any Other Friday
Author:Melissima
Pairing/Characters:Don/Charlie
Rating: R
Length: 300 K
Why I'm reccing this fic: Never has eppescest been so hot without even getting to the sex part of eppescest. Her bossy!Charlie is RAWR with a capital R. For such a short fic, this drabble left such an impact, her flist begged for a sequel, and she did not disappoint. (See next rec below)

Title:No Ordinary Birthday
Author: Melissima
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie
Rating: NC 17 FRAO
Length: 1500K
Why I'm reccing this fic: I am incoherent with love for this fic. It's uberhot, gorgeously written, and incredibly sexy. Mel has an absolutely amazing ability to paint intoxicating visuals with tight, visersal prose. Her ability to make you feel like you are there in her characters' heads and bodies is remarkable. Run do not walk to read this fic!

The inherent danger in recommending Mae's fics is that depending on what day or time or mood I am in when you ask me, I will pic 3 different fics everytime as my all-time favorite Mae's fics. The truth of the matter is incredibly simple: you can't go wrong with any of the fics on her masterlist. So consider this rec as appetizer and her masterlist the buffet of AWESOME. Read them all, my friends. You will not regret spending the time listening to the music her words make.

Title:so close that your hand on my chest is my hand
Author: Maerhys
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie
Rating: R
Length: 1K
Why I'm reccing this fic: So good and sweet and rich packed into a tiny fic that leaves you wanting so much more. Mae is truly gifted in showing the reader what her characters feel through all this glorious sensory detail without ever expliciting letting you into their thoughts. It just gorgeous and angsty and achy and guh. I heart her interpretation of both the brothers during the series timeline as well as pre-series. She is a lovely treat to all of us 'cester who love the brothers the best.

Title:set fire to the sixth
Author: Maerhys
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie
Rating: NC17
Length: 2800K
Why I'm reccing this fic: This fic is one that I could read over and over again and never tire of it. It's lyrical and strong and creative and there are lines in this fic that make me positively envious of her gift with words. But the ending, guh, the ending is what kills. It's hits hard and good and satisfying like a strong drink after a long day. READ IT!

Title:maybe you're gonna save me but i don't think so

Length: 2800K
Why I'm reccing this fic: Everything you loved about season 1 Don and Charlie is in this fic plus a little extra for us 'cesters. /winks/ I simply adore this fic. I could spend hours pointing out all the things I love. The fact is Mae is clever and funny and creative and completely draws you into her world with her words. And the attraction b/t the brothers is so hot, it is at incendiary levels in this fic.

*bounce* I have been dying to rec this fic here, but it was locked. :( I am thrilled that [livejournal.com profile] fabularasa was willing to have it posted it outside her journal so that everyone can read it. Because it is just that good.

Title: Low and Outside
Author: [livejournal.com profile] fabularasa
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie
Rating: NC17
Length: 15,000+
Why I'm reccing this fic: Because it is AWESOME!! A return to season one Don/Charlie with the lovely angst and the hot brother lovin’ and the sweetness. And did I mention it was scorching hot?
A brief excerpt: “Charlie,” Don breathed, meaning it to be the first part of Charlie, stop, only Charlie maybe took it as encouragement, or maybe he wasn’t as quick on the stop as he had meant to be.

“Come on, let’s do each other,” Charlie whispered in the dark, and just like that, he was being unzipped, and there was a warm hand closing on his dick, which all of a sudden could think of no objections.

Pairing/Characters: Colby/Don
Rating: NC-17
Length: 3127 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: In four words? How Don met Colby. This is pre-series and absolutely gorgeous. Spike never fails to deliver a spectacular fic and writes these two fabulously. Also, did I mention how freaking HOT this is? Because it's scorching.

Title: Pon Faerie
Author: [livejournal.com profile] swingandswirl
Pairing/Characters: Don/Colby
Rating: FMAO
Length: 2656 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: Coming from the Star Trek fandom, I couldn't resist a good "Pon Farr" fic, especially when I saw that [livejournal.com profile] swingandswirl wrote it. She does a fantastic job, making an old "cliche" fresh and new. It's not your typical "Pon Farr" and is absolutely wonderful.

Title: Unexpected Visitor
Author: [livejournal.com profile] spikedluv
Pairing/Characters: David/Colby, OFC
Rating: R
Length: 3008 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: I don’t write a lot of Original Characters, but I created one for this fic that I liked, and other folk seemed to enjoy: Colby’s mom.
A brief excerpt: David walked into the living room, tangled up in a t-shirt. “Granger, I think this is your t-shirt. Any idea where I left . . .” David’s head appeared from the t-shirt and he saw Colby standing there with his mother. “. . . mine? Uh . . . hi.”

Catherine’s eyes went wide as she took in David, jeans unbuttoned, feet bare, skin still damp from the shower. “I hope I’m not interrupting anything?”

Title: Promise?
Author: [livejournal.com profile] spikedluv
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie
Rating: NC17
Length: 2496 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: I love to write Don/Charlie first-time fic, where Don just wants so badly, and thinks he can’t have.
A brief excerpt: Despite every muscle being tensed to run, and every sense telling him how really, really bad of an idea it was, Don allowed a gentle hand to turn his face until he and Charlie were practically nose to nose.

“Don, tell me again,” Charlie said, “tell me everything’s going to be all right.”

Charlie sounded five, but god, he looked like sex on legs. Hair a little bit mussed from Don’s hand, lips red and swollen from where he’d been biting at them, eyes wide and dark with . . . Jesus, with arousal.

Promise?

Title: Home on the Range
Author: [livejournal.com profile] spikedluv
Pairing/Characters: Don/Colby (pre-slash)
Rating: PG13
Length: 1600 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: I wrote a couple of AU’s this year, but this is one that I’m really happy with, and which one day might get continued.
A brief excerpt: Don steered the Jeep down the dirt driveway, navigating pot holes and ruts, a glance in the rearview mirror showed the dust billowing up behind him in a valiant attempt to obscure the vehicle. When the ranch house finally came into view, Don was pleasantly surprised. The house was large, painted white and accented with green trim, boasting a wrap-around porch, but it wasn’t as ostentatious as the first ranch he’d already visited that morning.

Author: [livejournal.com profile] maerhys @ [livejournal.com profile] rhysmae
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie, OFC, OMC

Why I'm reccing this fic: This is my first Numb3rs fic and possibly my favorite because of the sensory detail and the OPOV. Also, it wrote itself, which never happens.

Author: [livejournal.com profile] maerhys @ [livejournal.com profile] rhysmae

Title: Just One Question
Author: [livejournal.com profile] mustangcandi
Pairing/Characters: Colby Granger, Gary Walker (implied Colby/OFC-Callie Walker)
Rating: PG-13 (language)
Length: 2096
Why I'm reccing this fic: This fic is written in a universe where Colby and Callie have been high school sweethearts; a universe where I have so much fun. This particular piece is a conversation between Gary Walker (Callie's dad) and Colby. I'm most proud of it because this was one of the first times I could actually hear the characters voices as I wrote and I think that comes across in the fic. I also enjoyed writing the pre-series look back at Colby's high school and solider days. :)

Just One Question

Title: Picture This
Author: [livejournal.com profile] mustangcandi
Pairing/Characters: Ian Edgerton/Nikki Betancourt
Rating: R (adult situations)
Length: 300 x 4
Why I'm reccing this fic: This was a drabble series I wrote after seeing some truly gorgeous pictures of Sophina Brown. Ian/Nikki is my favorite canon pairing and so writing a little fic to keep the long distance relationship interesting was a real treat.

Title: Learning to Read
Author: [livejournal.com profile] mustangcandi
Pairing/Characters: Charlie Eppes, Patrick Jane (The Mentalist, Numb3rs Crossover)
Rating: PG
Length:
Why I'm reccing this fic: Charlie doesn't believe in psychics. It's a good thing Patrick Jane isn't one. This piece was my very first (and only) crossover fic. This was also the first time I'd written Patrick Jane and only the second time I'd written Charlie Eppes. You can imagine how terrifying and exhilarating that experience was. As such, this is a fic I'm really glad to have written.

Now that 2009 has come to an end, we’d like to know what you each thought was your very best, so this week’s theme is: Rec Your Own 2009

As always, you may rec fic, graphics, music vids, essays, websites . . . The only difference is, it must be your own.

Whether it’s something you’re particularly proud of because you took a chance you wouldn’t normally have done, or whether you think it’s the best fanwork you’ve ever created in your history of fandom, or whether you think it’s something that might have flown under the radar and should get a second look, go ahead and rec three of your top/favorite/underrated creations of 2009.

Pairing/Characters: Billy/Don, Sam and Dean Winchester
Rating: PG-13
Length: 1809 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: I think this was my most fun piece to write last year when it comes to slash fic. It was part of last year's [livejournal.com profile] numb3rs_newyear challenge for [livejournal.com profile] sororcula and I was able to combine all the things I knew she'd love into one fic from cliches to the Winchesters plus a baby and pie!

For Challenge #078 Charlie/Coop
Title: Harbor House
Author: Emma DeMarais
Pairing/Characters: Billy/Charlie
Rating: PG 13
Length: Blissfully long (3 parts)
Why I'm reccing this fic: It's a companion piece to Safe Harbor (charlie's pov) but told from Billy's point of view. It's a slow building romance set in the midst of a dangerous consulting job that placed Charlie's life in danger. Why do I love it so? Because it is everything a fic should be. The canon characters are spot-on, the dialogue is witty and sweet, the drama and angst surrounding the case builds wonderful suspense, and i want to marry her OCs in this piece- strong vibrant women, every last one. And they would have to be to keep a hell-raiser like Billy in line. ;) And I adore the way she writes Billy/Charlie- sweet, hot, and playful. They both bring out the best in each other without being overly sacchrine or off-character. Her verse is so alive and breathing that if I read her SHH (Safe Harbor House is what I nicknamed the world) before bedtime, I will have the best dreams about her characters. So run, don't walk and go read this fic. You will thank me for it!

Title: A Day in The Life
Author: Emma DeMarais
Pairing/Characters: Billy/Charlie
Rating: PG 13
Length: around 10K

Why I'm reccing this fic: It's the sequel to the Safe Harbor/Harbor House fics! Like I said, I adore this verse. And this sequel is the perfect blend of world-building and a montage of glimpses into the daily life of the new Cooper/Eppes household. Just like its prequels, this fic is just lovely, sweet, and wholly gratifying without being overly or artificially sweet. She pwns both witty playful banter as well as authentic, relatable OCs. A brilliant follow up to the first two fics.

Title: The Eighth Night
Author: Emma DeMarais
Pairing/Characters: Billy/Charlie
Rating:PG 13
Length: less than 10K

Why I'm reccing this fic: It's the sequel to A Day in the Life! In fear of spoilers, I won't say much about this fic other than it's simply and beautifully golden. A lovely happy followup that was deeply satisfying for this most excellent romance. :)

That’s it for the Megan Reeves theme. Thanks so much to everyone who rec’d this week. Anytime you’re looking for a Megan Reeves fix, you can find the recs here.

Given that many of us will be busy with the holidays (and with recovering from the holidays) for the next couple of weeks, rather than issue a new challenge this week we’re having a 2-week Amnesty Period. All 81 themes that have been issued so far will be fair game, so if you missed one (and even if you didn’t), now’s the time to get those recs in!

Because it’s the holidays and we want as many wonderful recs as possible we’re feeling generous, you’re not limited to three recs total, though you will still be limited to three recs per theme. So if you’re feeling terribly industrious and want to submit 3 recs for each of the 81 challenges, for a total of 243 recs, then more power to you! *g*

To make it easier to memory and tag the posts, the only thing I require is that you submit your recs in separate posts for each theme, and somewhere in your post you must indicate which theme those recs are for.

The Amnesty Period will run for two weeks, so you have until midnight (wherever you are *g*) Sunday, January 3 to post your recs here!

You can find a list of all 81 themes listed by number in Memories, or listed alphabetically under tags (preceded by !theme:).

Remember that all types of recs are welcome here, whether gen, het or slash, [as are all genres, from angst to romance to case-related]. If you're unsure how to structure your recs, please check out the rules on the community profile.

Please comment to this post with any ideas you have for future challenges or if you’d like to sign up for a week of your very own.

Have fun, and rec away!
