Fic: Whatever You Need, Part Of The Cycle, Lick

Title: Whatever You Need
Author: [livejournal.com profile] spikedluv
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie
Rating: NC-17
Length: 4146 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: Aside from it being hotter than the sun, it turns the tables on more than a few ubiquitous tropes often used in D/Ch fiction. I've read it several times now and it holds up under secondary reads because the character voices are true and the love between them is just as sexy as the porn.

Candles, music . . . Charlie really should have known then, but even after having seen the cuffs (and after all these years), he still had to ask. Had to be sure it was Don who needed them.

“How long?” he asked.

Don shrugged, but Charlie wouldn’t let it go. Not this time.

“Days? Weeks? Months?”

“It’s been a while,” Don admitted, which was more information than Charlie usually got.

Why I'm reccing this fic: Multi-layered characterizations here interspersed within the amazingly sexy porn (that is graphic but never purple). The imagery, well, it's fabulous. However, it's the pillow talk that comes after that really enchants me and keeps this one among my favorites.

"Statistically, achieving so much perfection each time we have sex is, well, an anomaly. And you know, achieving perfection is an anomaly in and of itself."

Don chuckled at that and nuzzled Charlie's neck. "You just love that word."

"I do, yeah." He moaned as Don licked and nibbled at an earlobe. "And I also - I also love you and I love what we do. Inside the bedroom or outside, okay?"

Why I'm reccing this fic: The structure of the fic really works for the anticipation build, and when the porn moves past innuendo and into the physical, it may burn because it really is that sexy. Plus I am a sucker for established relationship fic where the couple tries new things because the trust is already in place.

"You drove me crazy today with that voicemail," Don growls in his ear.

"All's fair in love and war, bro," Charlie mutters. "You threw down the gauntlet with that post-it note."

Don's laugh is evil in his ear. "Your ass is mine. Don't you forget it."

Ooh! What's your kink big bang bunny? N3 I hope? We could use another novel length fic in the fandom. I think Dira and LadyGray and I might be the only ones on LJ to post anything that long and we know Dira will never do another.

I have some pretty strong opinions about posting my fic off LJ - thus me dropping out of [livejournal.com profile] bau_bigbang - but as long as I post it myself I should be able to have control over it on an LJ comm. It's fic where the comm mod posted it (like remix comms where it's anonymous) that make me a bit nervous, but I do them anyway as long as the people seem reputable. Mostly I have a huge problem with comm mods who not only expect you to post the fic in their archive, but they *disallow* authors from publishing it on their *own* LJs. /mind boggles/ I'm sorry, but me writing a fic for your prompt does not give you the right to tell me what I can do with my own fic. Um, no.

Mostly I don't crosspost my fic to pairing specific comms because I abhor whoring fic out via mindless excessive crossposting. We're a fairly small fandom. We don't need five postings for people to find fic. That said, to support my friends who run pairing specific comms I try to write a lot of fic for their challenges. (Thus owing 12 fic to [livejournal.com profile] eppescest.) So yeah, I'd be all for a rejuvenated comm there. The pairing used to be popular, but it's gotten overshadowed by excessive Charlie/Colby love. I'm all for a resurgence in the cest section of the fic supermarket. ;-)

Ooh! I like the sound of it from just reading that one line!

If you need an N3 beta give me a shout even if it's just for a canon check. I fully plan to be your evil enabler for this fandom in any way I can. /grins/

I post to [livejournal.com profile] supernaturalfic and few other places like [livejournal.com profile] sn_slash, but I've barely done any SPN fic this year. Odd. I think the S4 canon was so mythology oriented it left me little room for fic bunnies that didn't involve mythology, if that makes any sense. So past a Castiel fic or two it was hard to work my way in.

I write cestfic for N3, SPN *and* Heroes so I'm on the train, but I'm also a pairings whore. I like to challenge myself so variety is a nice way to try new things in a fandom where I've written most of the basics over and over. /shrugs/ I've been craving some D/C as of late. I might revive my Devolution Series or *gulp* take on the sequel to Addiction. Or I might just get off my duff and write one of my 12 Eppescest challenge fic. I've just got to balance all my big bang deadlines this fall with NaNo and still squeeze in some fic *I* want to write before the year ends. (Where did the year go? /looks around, confuzzled/)

Thankfully we don't need a mod to approve posts at Eppescest so we can keep posting there despite the vacancy. I do hope she gives it up though. I hate seeing comms die due to apathy.

Actually, I am in need of a beta! So if you're offering that would be fab. My fandom twin beta'd my first fic (which considering the activity of fandom and the cest ship I was pleasantly surprised w/ comments) but she hates betaing. A lot.

Sure. My email is my LJ username at gmail yada yada yada you know the rest. ;-) I don't have the fastest turnaround on the planet, but I will try.

So where's the fic? Not reading my Friends page I likely never saw it. /is made of fail/ For the most part the fandom got over their OMG INCEST! shock in 2006 or so. There are some still new to the fandom who still act a bit scandalized, but most people just treat it like the genre it is: cest vs het or slash or femmeslash. Not everyone likes all four. (/raises hand/ I do! And gen!)

FWIW we added Twilight to [livejournal.com profile] ficfinishing this month. I've been having trouble getting to people in that and the Terminator fandom so if you have any suggestions on how to get the word out to those fen that would be great.

Also with cest I find it hard to work in other pairings because if it worked with someone else why in the world would X choose to be with a sibling?

Oh, there's a whole big speech that I have as to the reasons to choose incest (in fiction), but I'll spare you it for now. Suffice to say, there is no love deeper than family, no one who knows you like blood, so if they love you romantically on top of that? How can anyone you meed later in life compare?

[Heh, I am writing your bonded!bros prompt for ROK this round.]

Oh, I've submitted so many I can't remember them. Refresh my memory, please?

I trained in poetry so I consider fan fic and writing within one pairing a lot like form. It's a challenge but one I like.

I admit to taking a poetry class in college so I appreciate the drabble as my most poetic art form for fic, Cascade (http://emmademarais.livejournal.com/61823.html) being one of my more overt poetic type experiments. I love playing with structure so I've got quite a few pieces that play with it.

Okay, I'm off to give Megan cancer again. Back for more later!
