Hi, my name is Andi and I'm going to be your tour guide Barbie for this week's Numb3rs recs. I aim to have a different theme each day that I post and I'm starting with gen authors.
First up, the talents of dHall. The stories are case-related and showcase the brothers' relationship well. She has an interesting series, called "No Common Allegiance", which is about a gang in L.A. and how Charlie, and later, Don get involved in them. I will warn for a character death in story 3, which is the longest (and angstiest) of the three. But there is lots of Eppes family comfort to balance the Eppes family hurt that occurs.
Secondly, we have OughtaKnowBetter who again writes long, plotty, case stories. These cover an interesting variety of cases and again, I enjoy the portrayal of the brothers and their relationship in these stories. I can't really pick a favourite out of these stories, as each one is so different. And I enjoy the story summaries as well *g*
Up third is, appropriately enough, 3rdgal. I'm giving you the link to her page at ff.net as it has more stories than at CalSci Library. This is an author who writes a mixture of short and long pieces. Again, the longer stories are well plotted and often case-related. One thing I admit to liking about her stories, is that they include a fair amount of Don-hurt. As a Don-babe, that is the sort of thing I like to see! Again, I enjoy the family relationships and the characterisation of all the Eppes family.
There are a lot of good gen authors out there, writing long case-related stories, which is something I really enjoy reading. I hope you like this sample offering and I'll be back with another post tomorrow. As the tour guide Barbie said in SG1's "2010", "We're walking"...
