That’s it for the Unusual Format Challenge! Thanks so much to everyone who rec’d this week. Anytime you’re looking for an Unusual Format fix, you can find the recs in Memories or follow the Unusual Format Challenge tag.

If you’d like to suggest a challenge theme or sign up for a week of your own during Sept/Oct, please go here. (If you’ve already signed up to rec, you are not precluded from signing up a second time.)

Comm: [livejournal.com profile] numb3rswom3n
Why I'm reccing this comm:

In a fandom/show completely dominated by men this comm was created to focus on the women of Numb3rs. Brave and quite unusual, IMHO a comm I'm glad [livejournal.com profile] leda_speaks took a chance on creating. She just launched her first fic challenge so go check it out.

Title: 62 Degrees and Cloudy
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emmademarais
Pairing/Characters: Charlie
Rating: PG13
Length: 100 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: If you just need to satisfy a Numb3rs craving, [livejournal.com profile] emmademarais always has something hot and fresh. Emma's experimental fics are always a revelation to me, but this one is a master lesson in economy of words.

Title: Early Days of Eppes Bros
Artist: Marina K
Pairing/Characters: Charlie, Don
Rating: G
Length: n/a
Why I'm reccing this art: All of the artwork I've seen from this person is gorgeous, but this one in particular has so much of a story in it. :)  Sadly, this person hasn't seemed to post any artwork since mid-2005, but there are links to several in this thread.  If anyone knows Korean, they can check out the website that's listed on the art.

Title: Distance
Author: [livejournal.com profile] delgaserasca
Pairing/Characters: Ian/Megan
Rating: Unstated (PG)
Length: 2 Haikus
Why I'm reccing this fic:

Like [livejournal.com profile] raeyashi it's tempting to rec [livejournal.com profile] delgaserasca's entire body of work since they both have unusual approaches to formatting/organizing their stories, but M got me into the Small Fandom Haikuathon and showed me that one could write powerful fic using just 17 syllables in 3 lines. If you read M's fabulous Ian/Megan that she wrote for the recent [livejournal.com profile] numb3rswriteoff [bodies (in motion)] this double haiku fits right in with that motif of Megan haunting Ian. She's written almost every prompt at [livejournal.com profile] numb3rs100 so if you enjoy her haiku you should see what she can do with 100 words. /smiles/

FYI - M has a separate LJ for her fic and award winning graphics work, so check out [livejournal.com profile] tja_rama. A lot is f-locked, but the Ian/Megan fic is public.

Title: Tongues of Contention
Author: [livejournal.com profile] iscaris
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie
Rating: PG
Length: 35 screencaps
Why I'm reccing this fic: A fun 'cesty retelling of Bones of Contention. And please note, it's a picspam story so that is 35 caps I've listed above. Beware your dial up connection!

Tongues of Contention

Now posted to the comm, as it's supposed to be, not my personal LJ! D'oh!

This week’s theme is: Unusual Format

For example, postcard fic, story told comic-style, poetry, etc. This challenge might be restricted to fic, but if you can think of anything else that fits the theme, go for it! Rec us your favorite Unusual Format fan fiction, graphics, music vids, websites, episodes, screencaps, essays . . . .

You have until midnight (wherever you are *g*) Sunday, September 16 to post your recs here!

Remember that all types of recs are welcome here, whether gen, het or slash, [as are all genres, from angst to romance to case-related]. If you're unsure how to structure your recs, please check out the rules on the community profile.

Please comment to this post with any ideas you have for future challenges. If you’d like to sign up for a week of your very own during Sept/Oct, please do so here.

Have fun, and rec away!

Title: Bits and Pieces [of you]
Author: [livejournal.com profile] raeyashi
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie
Rating: R
Length: 21 images of text (not dialup friendly)
Why I'm reccing this fic:

Breathtaking.

Text as art, fonts and formatting adding meaning to mere and not so mere ("Don when did you get so beautiful") words.

I had the good fortune to watch this being made, but the final publishing still left me in awe.

Forget sausagemaking. This was like being present for the miracle of childbirth.

Only this child was special on a Charlie-like level.

Do. Not. Miss.

This won a Numb3rs award for good reason.
