When I first started reading Numb3rs fanfic last summer, about the only one writing Charlie/Colby was
umbralillium (at that time, Dani Kitten, now Lily Sheridan). Luckily, the adage of “beggers can’t be choosers” didn’t apply here, since Lily is an excellent writer. She’s written a variety of series with C/C, including AU, and covers my favorite things to see in fanfic – quality Ocs, agents with kids, angsty romance, banter, family situations, good action, hot sex … I’m afraid she’s off mostly writing Supernatural these days, but she’s left us with some great reading!
I debated which particular story to rec, and decided to go with Precious Moments. It’s AU, with the main difference being Charlie doesn’t work with the FBI. He stopped a passing waiter and nodded towards the mystery man. “Who is he?” He asked.
The waiter glanced over and smiled almost fondly. “No one knows. He’s in here every other weekend. Never takes anyone up on their offers. Nearest I can figure is he just comes here to dance.” He looked Colby over and smirked. “Save yourself the effort, honey, pick someone else.” He replied before moving off.
